Hot Oil Treatment

Hot Oil Treatment is just as the name said , hot oil lol ... I was first introduce to hot oil treatment when I was relax ( currently transitioning ) , I would do this treatment on relax days and maybe sometime  I would put it off to two weeks post relax . The brand hot oil treatment I used back then was V05 , I would massage it in my hair and then let it sit for 10 -15 minutes under a hooded dryer with shower cap , sitting under the dryer is optional .

What it does/ Benefits

Hot oil treatment is for damage are dry hair , damage that result from chemical application such as relaxers, color and also from heat styling tools . This will make the hair more healthy and beautiful . Hot Oil treatment  condition the hair and gives it extra moisture . The hot oil will help repair damaged and weak hair when each strands receive the oil also it will help to prevent breakage , dryness , frizz and it help to give your hair shine .

My Transition To Natural hair Update #2

I am 14 months post and will be 15 months post relax December . I am enjoying the new styles I have learned , before I would normally just do pony tail are wear my hair out now I can do braid out (my favorite) , twist out and others.

I am no longer feeling the urge to relax , that is a great achievement for me, because I am now managing my natural hair  . I have learn so much about my hair and all its behavior to certain products.

In the first couple months I wanted to relax because straight hair texture is what I am used to .
I now understand my curly texture and I am full of different texture lol ...

I am currently experiencing some mild shedding but maybe its just my hair going through that final stage ( TELOGEN )  . I will continue to keep a close eyes on that .

I have a lot of product that I love so much , I keep rotating in between  my favorite products because I have so much  . My regimen is still pretty much the same , except because its now coming down to winter there are small changes I have made ( winter hair tips ) .

So I am still on my journey to 2 years transition .

Products Review : Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture Conditioner

I have finally gotten the time to do a personal review about Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture Conditioner, this conditioner is my staple conditioner in which I alternate with my other favorite Vo5 Moisturizing conditioner .

My Experience

All I can say this conditioner has never failed me , its just amazing . Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture Conditioner  always leave my hair feeling soft and nourish whenever I used it .This  is one of the best conditioner I have used and a must have for the winter climate . In winter my hair need more moisture so this was a well needed review for the upcoming winter season . I dont have to mix this with any oil like I would do when using my VO5 .The smell is lovely , nice and tropical .

What i also love about this conditioner is the slip it give when I am detangling my hair . Its a great detangler and leave-in  also can used are your regular daily moisturizer , make it your own.

Hair Tips on Maintaining Healthy Relaxed Hair

These are tips I have used to keep my relax hair long and healthy even after it was bleached .

Never relax before 6 weeks , I would normally relax every 6-8 weeks never let anyone tell you to apply relaxer anytime sooner . Never over process the hair , do not apply relaxer to already relax hair .

I would normally wash my hair with normal shampoo every two weeks (diluted) to get rid of products build up. You dont have to do this , if your hair is dry do not used so much shampoo , you can try only washing once a month to get rid of products and stripping your hair too much of its natural oil .

Co-wash at least once a week with your favorite moisturizing conditioner , some people do it twice a week it all depends on how long your hair lock in  moisture .

Do a deep condition treatment once a week / bi-weekly for extra moisture and strength. Protein  and moisturizing deep conditioner . Both are very important , whenever you do a protein treatment always follow up with a moisturizing treatment .

Detangle
Keep your hair moisturize , always, this is every important . If your hair is moisturized you do not need protective styling . I am not a fan of protective style so I keep my ends moisturized at always . Apply moisturizer and seal with essential oil such as  Virgin  Olive Oil and Coconut Oil  .

I suggest avoiding direct heat , such as blow dryer , flat/curling iron . If you must used heat , always use a  heat protector/serum before applying heat to the hair . Do not used heat daily , it will dry your hair out and cause breakage ( tips on how to stop hair breakage) .

Let your hair air dry , this is what I do , I only used my hooded dryer when I have to and I be sure to used heat protector .

Used essential oil (natural oil) not  petroleum jelly ( Vaseline )

I love using , Carrot Oil , Olive Oil and Coconut Oil . Always best to used virgin Coconut and Olive oil i, these are natural with little to no chemical . These will help to lack in moisture in the hair and condition the hair . There are many other essential oils to choose from .

Trim your hair when needed , if your ends are damage over time trim them .  I normally dust my ends every time I relax. This is a preference and optional .

Night routine , you should used Satan are silk scarf to wrap your hair at night . If that is not your style used a silk pillow case to prevent breakage you may get from cotton material .

Knowing to how to color hair  at home using  majirel hair color chart can save you in your pocket.  So I colored my friend hair red the other day, she loves the result and I just want to share some tips on how to color hair too . Coloring your hair at home can be easy .  I like putting  a lot of  research into my post so I would not have felt good writing anything . For this post I am focusing on achieving ginger / red, but it can be whatever color you desire.

#1. Most important step in how to color hair is to be sure to, examine your hair, is it damage? What should be done before coloring it. To know more about this read how to  Prep hair for color/ bleach .

loreal majirel color chart
Rihanna Red Hair
#2 . Moving on from the preparing stage now examines your hair color and skin tone. Getting the right shade to match your skin tone is also important. Examine your hair will help you to determine the final result , some darker hair people will tend to bleach their hair first (optional) and if you have blond hair you might want to darken your hair a little or color it orange first before dying it red  . Now you may begin looking at Loreal Majirel Color charts .

Twitter and Tumblr

I just had the time to create a twitter page , I am so busy with daily life activities . I still manage to update my blog twice a week and now you can follow my blog now on twitter to get the latest updates . I am so happy that I get the weekend to do this because I am so busy these days.

So for all who that want to follow on twitter or Tumblr you now can . I may are may not make a Facebook page , at least not any time soon.

Prep hair for color / bleaching

I wanted to make a full post about preparing  your hair before coloring it ever since I made the tutorial on
How to Bleach Your Hair at Home and Hydrogen Peroxide Hair Bleach . When choosing a desire color we might have to make some preparation before hand . I am not a stylist just sharing my knowledge :D .

1#. Do the strand and allergy test

2#. Make sure your hair is in good condition . If your hair is thinning and damage be sure to take care of it   before thinking about putting such harsh chemical on it .

3# .  Give your hair some tlc before coloring such as , deep condition for couple day and hot oil treatment 3 days before dying your hair .

4#. Do not wash your hair on the day you plan to dye your hair or even the day before . The natural oil your hair produce is important to your scalp and hair health .

5# . Do you have any split ends , clip them off . If not they will look lighter than the erst of the hair and even more damage .

6#. You may need to strip your hair if you have dark hair dye ,you should buy a color remover .

7#. Last but not least choosing the right color that matches your  skin tone is important so get some sample hair color .

Transition Hairstyles

During my transition process I have done numbers of  transition hair style , this help to blend my two texture .
My staple Transition hair style is Chignons , since its similar to my pony tail styles.

Classic Buns
Buns can also be elegant but ditch the scrunches . Also keep your hair off your shoulder especially in those hot summer days .

Chignons
This is very elegant and fashionable , you mush have long are semi-long hair to do this style . This style  keep your hair off your shoulder as well .

Wet Sets
Helps to blend the root of your natural texture with your relax ends.

Flat Twist
These are similar to to cornrow , These style make nice protective style if your concern about your ends .

Twist out
This is exactly out it sounds , you twist your hair and after a while you pull it out

Braid out
Similar to twist out , the difference is you use three strands of hair .

Bantu knots
This also help to blend your texture and give you a smooth curly finish .

Straw sets
This also is beautiful but it can take a real long time , too much time for some of us lifestyle .

Blow outs/ flat iron
Be sure to used heat protection when attempting heat styles

Weave /Extensions
Some people find it easier to not deal with their natural texture every day . This would be a good choice for such people .
